Created in partnership with So:ToSpeak Festival and in collaboration with Willbox and Williams Shipping, TRANSPORTED is a series of installations and performances created and curated by element arts in shipping containers in Guildhall Square, central Southampton.
This exciting large scale outdoor project included a dramatic over-sized piece of temporary art called The Sleeping Giants; The Future Museum of Now, which transported visitors to the year 2525; a select programme of snug performances for small audiences in Crammed and a unique exhibition charting the history of Williams Shipping and their part in the development of Southampton docks over the past 150 years.
There were also music and a play to mark Mexico Week, programmed in association with MEXSU, University of Southampton’s Centre for Mexico-Southampton Collaboration.
Exhibitions and some live events were FREE to the public and suitable for all ages.
TRANSPORTED was presented in partnership So:ToSpeak Festival and the box office and book shop for So:ToSpeak were located in Guildhall Square.
TRANSPORTED was supported by Southampton shipping firm Williams Shipping and WillBox who provided the conainers for the project.
“Willbox are proud to support ‘TRANSPORTED’ which will demonstrate the fantastic artistic potential of shipping containers”
